Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival
October 17th - 21st, 2012
Dipson's Market Arcade Film & Arts Center
639 Main Street, Buffalo, New York
Story is crucial to the narrative filmmaking process, and Buffalo Screams is devoted to recognizing and encouraging genre screenwriters. We’ve expanded our screenplay competition to include four distinct categories: Feature, Medium Length, Short, and Student. All screenplays must be original works, and must not be under option by any studio or production company. We require two hard copies of each screenplay submitted, in addition to our submission form and entry fee; if your work is selected to compete, we will also require a .pdf or Word doc of the script as well. Hard copies will not be returned. All screenplays must have been completed after January 1st, 2011.
This year, we are pleased to announce that Joseph O’Brien will serve as a guest judge on our committee judging the feature length scripts. O’Brien is a professional filmmaker who wrote the script for the Robocop: Prime Directives mini-series which ran on the Sci-Fi Channel; an un-produced script for the Black Christmas remake; the six-issue comic book mini-series Revolution on the Planet of the Apes; and he recently directed his first feature, the horror film The Devil’s Mile, from his own script.
Screenplay Competition: Horror, Science Fiction & Fantasy

Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival reserves the right to combine categories in the event that there are not enough entries in those categories, or enough entries that meet our standards. We also reserve the right to not give an award in any given category if the quality of submissions in said category does not meet our expectations, including the $500.00 cash prize for the Faux Grindhouse trailer competition. Our goal is to find the best and the brightest, so do your best and shine!
