Today I had the distinct pleasure to go and see the premier of "The Final night and Day", a movie by Deftone Pictures Studios. Writen and Directed by Adam Stiegert and Stephanie Andrews. This was a local production that I had the chance to not only help with, but act in. I played "Nick", one of a group of convicts being transported from Wisconson, and somehow wind up in the town/city of Metzburg (which looks alot like Buffalo :) ). As the movie starts you see a crashed bus with a dead guard lying in front. The convicts are then thrown into a town torn apart by a zombie outbreak.
Hilatiry Ensues :)
This is the 3rd full length movie form Deftone (Bitez, and Gore being the first two). It is a major jump in quality, cinematography, acting as well as special effects. Rod Durick of Zombified Studios handled the special effects along with a coupe of people associated with Anomoly Effects and JFR Productions. Rod Durick was also the special effects coordinator on Slime City Massacre by festival co-founder Greg Lamberson. An up and coming effects artist, you can see the quality of his work in the high def print of the movie. Adam's ability as a filmmaker has grown significantly over the years with each subsequent movie.
Being billed as the "Largest Independent movie production in Buffalo", you can see why. Tons of extras posing as zombies throughout the movie gave the film a larger than life feel. If I remember correctly a couple of hundred extras showed up to Angola NY for the one walk through seen. Plenty of those extras were in the audience onight cheering the movie on.
Hopefully we will be seeing The Final Night and Day as an entry in this years festival so that even more people can get the chance to view the movie. A solid film from start to finish, and I was proud to be a part of it.
On a side note, My name shows up four times in the credits. Every time I see my name up ther on the big screen I smile a little bit more. Thank you Deftones for a great time, a great movie, and the chance to work with you.
